Methodology
The
Organizational and Executive Committee, responsible for
the FORUM agenda, defines the methodology which will determine
the activities accepted as integrating this event. This
methodology may be modified upon the criterion adopted by
this Committee, assisted by the Consultative Council, and
they may include or modify activities, always endeavoring
to make possible the participation of all organizations
and institutions accepted as partners or supporters of the
World Spiritual Forum.
The
focus, in this first World Spiritual Forum, and in those
that yearly will follow it, will always be upon deep reflection
about our problems, special attention being particularly
paid to the point of view of spirituality. We will aim at
using the knowledge and values attained by the world of
the spirit to build, support or motivate action that will
bring a valid contribution to the solution of the problems
of mankind.
Thus,
as the FORUM absolutely doesn't see itself as the only body
working towards achieving such goals, it will endeavor to
encourage and reinforce related experiences so that, through
contacts and planned cooperation we will together be able
to establish respect for diversity whether religious, ethnical,
cultural, social, linguistic and other, aiming at the building
of a culture of peace in the various segments of society.
In
face of these obligations the programming of the FORUM will
be always planned in such a way that each participating
group, organization, institution or person integrating it,
whether participating in panels or expositions, or, as well,
in thematic discussions that will take place simultaneously,
will be able to bring its contribution to the floor. This
will help a lot in establishing mutual cooperation and these
efforts will be crowned with the realization of moments
of prayer and with the work of the group responsible for
putting together the "Chart of Brasília".
All
these activities will be enriched with artistic and cultural
presentations that will be part of the program always in
agreement with the FORUM principles and objectives. It is
hereby understood that the Organizational and Executive
Committee, assisted by the Consultative Council, will determine
the spaces that will figure in the program and who will
be utilizing them.
The
Organizational and Executive Committee, being responsible
for defining the activities that will figure in the program,
and the spaces to be utilized and by whom, will keep always
in mind that all partners and supporters must be granted
the same opportunities. Thus, being this the first World
Spiritual Forum, a rotating system will be adopted concerning
spaces and participants, in order to grant all participants
the opportunity to occupy different spaces in the coming
forums.
The
Organizational and Executive Committee will, moreover, suggest
what will be discussed in this first World Spiritual Forum,
whether topics related to the presentations or to the panels.
As of the coming forums the Consultative Council may, as
well, suggest topics to be discussed.
Presentations
The speaker, representing a group, organization,
movement, institution and so on, will speak for about 40
(forty) minutes about the chosen topic, always bringing
out what the points of view, values and principles defended
by said group have in common with those expressed by the
world of spirit.
Panels
Following the same lecture guidelines here
three or four people, representing different organizations,
will share about one hour and 30 minutes, to voice their
views. Each one can use up to 20 (twenty) minutes for his/her
presentation.
Among those nominated to each panel the
first one will be the moderator or coordinator. He/she will
monitor the time allotted to each participant and to questions
on the part of the audience. He/she will also monitor contributions
offered during the time between the end of an exposition
and the beginning of another one, always minding the total
time allotted to the panel.
Thematic Forums
These forums will be part of the World
Spiritual Forum program in order to promote more communication
among the organizations and institutions dedicated to spiritual
matters. They will therefore have a greater understanding
of their respective positions and activities and will, as
well, be able to reflect more deeply upon topics related
to society, to culture, to the inter-religious dialogue
and to human rights.
In this first World Spiritual Forum the
organizers will be responsible for putting together the
program to be adopted. In the future the different participating
groups will suggest different activities which will be concomitant
to the main assembly, taking place in adjoining auditoriums.
Work Group Shaping the Charter
of Brasília
As soon as the members of this group are
nominated, upon each yearly realization of the FORUM, they
will work together shaping the Spiritual Forum Charter.
The resulting document will serve as a reflection and even
as a declaration of intentions. It can be worked upon by
the different organizations without, however, any obligation
to adhere to the same.
Artistic Presentations
The Organizational and Executive Committee
of the World Spiritual Forum will see to it that there are
artistic and cultural presentations during the same as long
as they are compatible with the FORUM ideas and principles.
In the coming forums, with the assistance
of the participants of this first FORUM and through its
Consultative Council, the same artistic and cultural activities
may be expanded to exhibit films, art and so on, always
as long as they are compatible with the FORUM ideas and
principles.
Moments of Prayer
The Organizational and Executive Committee
of the World Spiritual Forum, with the assistance and cooperation
of the different religious groups participating in the FORUM,
will plan several moments of prayer, endeavoring to allow
each different group to conduct a moment of prayer according
to their manner of worship. These moments of prayer will
take place according to the availability of proper spaces
and interest in participation. Hopefully they will serve,
as well, to broaden the knowledge of and respect for diversity
in the spiritual quest.
An inter-religious Service
On the last day of each yearly World Spiritual
Forum there will take place an inter-religious service to
be experienced as a moment of worship in which all can participate.
Workshops
There will be within the general program
of the FORUM the possibility of workshops where the participants
will be able to work not only on the questions proposed
by the FORUM but also on possible experiential learning
experiences suggested by the Organizational and Executive
Committee, always in harmony with the FORUM proposals and
principles.
Parallel Activities
Parallel activities may take place, being
part of the FORUM program, in adjoining spaces. Activities
and spaces will be defined by the Organizational Committee
assisted by the Consultative Council.
