Forum volunteers meeting bring together about 100 people

      On the afternoon of November 19th volunteers participating in the event got together at United Planet headquarters, where the Forum main office is located. Volunteers will not participate only during the event per se. This week they will be in charge of signing up participants, as well as of the Forum in the Streets Project.

      The meeting took off with Ulisses Riedel, United Planet president and one of the Forum organizers, presenting the Forum to the volunteers. He told them in detail about the idea of organizing the event and of their importance making this initiative a successful one. He added that volunteers must spread information about the Forum, making more and more people motivated to sign up for the event.

      "We should leave the Forum with our lives so strengthened by spirituality that we can transcend materialism", he affirmed. In his view of utmost importance will be the way the volunteers greet the participants, making them feel welcome. "Take care of them, make them feel at home. That is what we expect from you", he said.

      The meeting was, all the time, an exchange of ideas and experiences lived. Several volunteers came up with good suggestions and so did the Forum coordinators. The volunteers suggested that signing up posts be set up in the Satellite Cities administration offices. They also suggested that in the days just before the inauguration of the event there be a "general rehearsal" so everyone can be sure of what his/her responsibilities are.

      Dr. Márcio Bontempo, responsible for Health at United Planet and one of the Forum speakers, suggested that the volunteers can arrange and set up opportunities for the Forum coordinators to talk to people about the event. "It is an excellent way to spread the word which is already happening…We just need to intensify it"!

      Another suggestion on the part of the coordination was that each volunteer should study the Forum site (www.forumespiritualmundial.org.br) so as to learn as much as possible about it all. It was also suggested the practice of friendly hospitality which has already been put into practice with similar events with excellent results.

      STREET FORUM – Among other things it was suggested that in the next coming Sundays groups of volunteers and the event coordination take information about the same, and promote signing up as well, in both the South and North Wings of the Pilot Plan of Brasília, and Olhos D'Água Park and City Park, as well!
